During a hand of poker, each player receives 2 hole cards. They then take turns betting on their hand, starting with the player to the left of the dealer. When it’s your turn to bet, you can either call (match the last bet), raise or fold. If you raise, your opponents must call the new bet or fold.
Saying “call” means you want to match the bet that the person to your right made. Saying “raise” means you want to add more money into the pot than the previous bet. If you don’t have a strong hand, you can fold your cards and wait for the next round. Alternatively, you can try to win the pot by bluffing. If you’re good at bluffing, you can often force weaker hands to fold.
